In 1872, he created his first own fragrance - Hammer Bouquet, which was presented under the brand Penhaligon's. This composition has become very successful. In 1970, the company's shares were bought by Sheila Pickles and Franco Zefirelli, who did not change the mechanism of work, continuing to develop the brand using formulas from a century ago.
