Today, Davidoff is a world-famous manufacturer of cigars and cigarettes, accessories for men, perfumes and cognac. This story began in the 1900s with Chaim Davydov's passion for cigarettes. In 1906, he had a son, Zinovy, who would later become the founder of the famous brand. The boy was attracted to his father's hobby from an early age, which later turned into his true love and life's work.
In 1911, Chaim Davydov opened a tobacco shop in Geneva. Zino helps his father in this business until he comes of age, being his right hand. The boy has the gift of recognizing and being able to masterfully mix different varieties of tobacco. Therefore, upon reaching the age of 18, his family sends him to study in the USA, which took 5 years. During this time, he visited Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, where he was able to get acquainted with the peculiarities and technologies of growing, fermentation, processing and drying of various types of tobacco.
In Cuba, the young man tried cigars for the first time, after which he decided that he should bring them to his father for a trial. And so that during the sea crossing the cigars would not deteriorate under the influence of moisture, he placed them in a wooden box, where he put a special device to maintain the required humidity level.
